In a career which saw the defender play for a host of London clubs, former France international William Gallas has revealed that Chelsea were his favourite London club to play for in an interview published in the London Evening Standard.
After spending five years at Chelsea and making 159 appearances for the Blues, Gallas moved to Arsenal as part of the deal which saw Ashley Cole move in the opposite direction. Yet, despite enjoying successful spells at both clubs, the 39-year-old revealed that it was at Chelsea in which he enjoyed his best spell in England.
The London Evening Standard quote the former France international, who reveals: “I liked all three, but maybe Chelsea was the most special time for me.”
“It was my first club abroad and I had a great time there, winning a few trophies as well.”When I won the Premier League with Chelsea I felt like the King of England [Laughs]. You want to keep experiencing that,” Gallas is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.
During his time with the Blues, Gallas won the Premier League twice and added a couple of League Cups as Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea dominated English football.
Despite retiring in 2014, the Gallas recently played in Sky Sports’ Star Sixes tournament, winning the trophy with France after defeating Denmark 2-1 in the final.
