Alvaro Morata has revealed that he signed for Chelsea in the summer because of the faith Antonio Conte had in him, report the Metro.
Morata has enjoyed an electric start to life with the Premier League champions. We feared that there would be a gaping hole left by the departure of Diego Costa, who scored 52 league goals in three seasons as a Blue. However, after Morata has found the back of the net eight times in his opening nine appearances for the club, those fears have been fast eradicated.
We have bagged ourselves a real gem, and we have manager Antonio Conte to thank for it in no small part. The Metro quote Morata, who reveals his reasons behind joining Chelsea in the summer transfer window:
“I came to Chelsea because one club and one coach believed in me. Now I have all of these things and I’m very happy.”
It just goes to show what a long way a bit of faith can go to help a player’s confidence. Morata is flying high at the moment, and long may it continue.
