Without trying to sound too smug, it is true to say that Chelsea stormed to the Premier League title last year.
After 13 league victories in a row, Antonio Conte’s men had effectively sewn up the title by January even though the Italian would have been the last person to admit this fact.
And the Chelsea manager appears to be carrying this same caution with him into the new season after it was revealed by Chelsea regular N’Golo Kante in an interview with the Evening Standard that Antonio Conte has given his players a warning ahead of the new season.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, the French midfielder described how the Italian manager is taking nothing for granted as he prepares his squad to compete on four different fronts next season.
“He has been speaking about working hard to get in a winning mentality quickly. We start a new chapter for Chelsea and a new chapter in our careers for everyone.”
“We need to start to work to get our energy for the season. He didn’t speak about what we did last season and winning the League, he just spoke about working hard to be ready for the season coming up”
Ahead of his second campaign as Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte appears determined to avoid a sluggish start to the Premier League season.
What do you think of Kante’s recent comments?
