Antonio Conte has rubbished rumours linking Eden Hazard with a move to Barcelona this summer, report Sky Sports.
On Thursday night, The Sun ran an exclusive story that the Catalan giants were keen to reinvest a large chunk of the money they raised through the sale of Neymar in Hazard, who, on paper, would be a like-for-like replacement for the Brazilian.
The Sun claimed that Barca were set to make a £100M move to sign Hazard, but it doesn’t look as though he will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Sky Sports quote Conte, who when asked about the possibility of Neymar moving to the Nou Camp this summer, provides an extremely unambiguous answer:
“We are trying to buy the players, not to sell them, otherwise the number is always less and we are in trouble.”
Conte went on to insist that Hazard was happy in life in SW6, and was focused on getting fit for the next season, as Sky Sports report:
“I think these are rumours and Eden is very happy to stay with us, to play with Chelsea and to start the new season. To recover his injury and to start the season with us. I think so.”
Losing Hazard at this stage of the transfer window would be nothing short of a disaster. It’s good to see that Conte is adopting a firm stance.
