Asmir Begovic has taken a parting shot at current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte after revealing that Jose Mourinho was the best manager he played under during his time at the London club, reports the Metro.
The 30-year-old keeper switched Stamford Bridge for Bournemouth this summer in search of regular first team football after winning the title with Conte.
However, after speaking to the media yesterday at his official unveiling, the former Chelsea player lifted the lid on his time at Chelsea.
“I think the best manager I’ve worked under – and it was a shame it was for such a short time – was Mourinho,” the Metro report Begovic replied after being asked about the two Chelsea managers he had worked with.
The goalkeeper was signed by Jose Mourinho in 2015 after the former Chelsea manager had sold Petr Cech to rivals Arsenal.
Despite this perceived dig at the current Chelsea manager, the Metro report that Begovic did go on to praise Antonio Conte for his strict training regime following the club’s 10th place finish the season before the arrival of the Italian Manager.
“Conte was good. He was very intense, very intense in his work, very driven in his structure and the way of playing,” the Bournemouth goalkeeper added.
Begovic made 19 appearances for the Blues, winning one Premier League trophy in his time with the club.
