Baba Rahman has today completed an 18-month loan switch to German side Schalke, Chelsea’s website confirmed.

The 23-year-old failed to force his way into head coach Antonio Conte’s plans despite him staying with the champions beyond last summer.

Baba was loaned out to Schalke at the beggining of our title-winning season. However, an injury during the African Cup of Nations forced the Ghanaian to return to Chelsea in January 2017.

The left-back is unfortunate not to be given a solid chance under Antonio Conte since the Italian’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The length of this loan spell may show signs that Baba is not part of the club’s plans, at least for the near future.

It’s important now for the player to at least show what he can do at the Bundesliga club, whether or not he doesn’t cement his status as a Chelsea player.

Never gave Baba a chance. Conte, I believe you have done your time at my club. Please leave at season’s end. Thanks for everything, but we need a new direction and it doesn’t involve you. This is my text message to you. You know about text messages…
