It looks as though Chelsea’s pursuit of Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski only ever existed in the English papers.

As the London Evening Standard report, Lewandowski has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, with Premier League counterparts Manchester United also said to be interested.

This was exciting news to the Chelsea faithful, including ourselves, as Lewandowski has firmly established himself among the best players in the world.

However, the London Evening Standard report that Bayern have now released a statement, claiming that Lewandowski is happy at the Allianz Arena and will not be leaving the club this summer. As the Standard note, the statement also revealed that no talks have been held between the Poland international’s agent and any interested parties.

It doesn’t look as though Lewandowski will be making the switch to Stamford Bridge after all, but it was a nice thought – until it was quashed by the Bundesliga champions.
