Chelsea are in the running to sign Barcelona midfielder Rafinha, according to The Sun.
Rafinha is a product of the illustrious La Masia academy. He broke through into the Barcelona first-team setup alongside brother Thiago, before he moved onto greener pastures in search of regular first-team football.
The 24-year-old, who plays for the Brazilian national team, whereas his brother plays for Spain, has gone on to make 81 appearances in a Barcelona shirt. During that period he has been given an opportunity to showcase his quality, and has done so.
However, he still isn’t considered a key player at the Camp Nou, and would have no shortage of offers if he did opt to leave. As per The Sun, both Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in securing his services.
Rafinha, though, has no intention of leaving any time soon. His father, Mazinho, is quoted by The Sun insisting that his son will not be going anywhere:
“We have no interest (in leaving) either. We have a contract with Barca. We haven’t talked to anyone because with an injured player, it’s difficult to negotiate anything with other clubs.”
