Chelsea could be forced to continue paying Diego Costa’s wages until the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
The Sun report that Costa’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has held talks with Serie A heavyweights AC Milan over the possibility of his client moving to the San Siro this summer. Costa, however, does not appear to be keen.
As per The Sun, Costa is prepared to snub interest from Milan in order to force through a return to former employers Atletico Madrid. That could prove problematic for Chelsea.
The Sun claim that Costa earns £185K-a-week at Stamford Bridge, and holding onto him until January would cost the Blues £3.7M – and they would be receiving absolutely nothing in return.
This situation looks to be becoming more and more shambolic as the weeks pass. The sooner we get the Costa out of the door the better. He needs to stop dragging his heels and think logically about what’s best for his career going forward. Rotting at Chelsea certainly isn’t.
