Chelsea could be the next club to feel the wrath of Southampton for illegally tapping up centre-back Virgil Van Dijk, according to the Independent.
The Independent report that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp held talks with Van Dijk about how he would fit into his side, and the Dutchman agreed terms with the Reds ahead of a potential transfer.
However, the Independent note that these talks were held without the permission of Southampton, and they lodged an official complaint to the FA as a result of Liverpool’s illegal behaviour.
The Independent believe that Southampton will not sell Van Dijk to Liverpool following their feud with the Merseyside giants, but Klopp was not the only one to break the rules in his pursuit of the 25-year-old.
According to the Independent, Chelsea have also held ‘detailed’ talks with Van Dijk without the permission of his employers. The Independent believe that Southampton are looking into the depth of the discussions between their player and the Premier League champions, and another official complaint could be made.
What a mess.
