A familiar face could be on his way back to Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea are interested in re-signing European champion Ryan Bertrand from Southampton.
Despite being handed an unlikely start in the Champions League final, Bertrand failed to establish himself as an important member of our side, and subsequently joined Southampton in the summer of 2014. He has gone onto develop into one of the best left-backs in the league.
It appears as though his good performances have captured the attention of Antonio Conte. The Mirror believe that the Italian is keen to build on his wing-back options this summer, and Bertrand is on the list of potential targets.
The Mirror report that Bertrand has told his teammates that he expects to leave St. Mary’s in the upcoming transfer window, and a return to his former employers may well be on the cards.
Our pursuit of Bertrand will not be straightforward, however. The Mirror note that Liverpool are also interested. This is one to keep an eye on as we approach the summer window.
