Pat Nevin
Pat Nevin made 193 domestic appearances for Chelsea between 1983 and 1988.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has been singing the praises of Blues striker Michy Batshuayi in his weekly column for the club’s official website.

Eyebrows were raised when Batshuayi replaced top-goalscorer Alvaro Morata at the weekend. With the Premier League champions chasing a goal, you would think it logical to keep your hitman on the field of play – but Antonio Conte opted to throw Batshuayi into the mix.

His decision proved to be a masterstroke, as Batshuayi found the back of the net twice to ensure Chelsea would record a vital three points and halt the slump. Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin is impressed, as he has revealed in his most recent column for the club’s website:

“As I have mentioned here before, I have a suspicion he is generally unstoppable when you provide him with chances, even if his all-round play isn’t always quite to the standard of Alvaro. There have been plenty of great poacher strikers like that and they are priceless.”

As Nevin acknowledges, Batshuayi is rough around the edges, he’s not as much as a complete player as Morata. However, he guarantees goals, and that’s priceless in football. We’re likely to see him in action against Everton on Wednesday.

Please try-out Mr Musonda & Mr Batshuayi (Hazard behind) in the starting line-up … at least until the 70th minute … give them both the opportunity to prove CFC actually saved money during the window !!
