Gary Cahill isn’t happy with the amount of public criticism the club has been getting this season, The Standard reports.
The Chelsea captain along with head coach Antonio Conte agreed that the players have three days off. This was due to the back-to-back three goal losses against Bournemouth and Watford respectively.
Whilst the Blues have had a turbulent season, the free-flowing Liverpool are just a point ahead of Chelsea. Tottenham are still outside the top four despite their 1-0 win over rivals Arsenal.
When speaking to the Standard, Cahill believes the media have let Liverpool and Tottenham off the hook in terms of negative coverage.
The Standard quotes Cahill saying:
“We are sandwiched in the middle of those two (Liverpool and Tottenham) and yet everything seems rosy there and it’s all drama and a disaster here.
“It’s been that way a lot of the time since I have been at Chelsea and it does get tiring.”
Chelsea’s success since Roman Abramovich’s takeover in 2003 has raised the barrier for English football.
Whenever the club are going through a difficult time, there will be plenty of interest from the public. Liverpool and Tottenham have only each won a Carabao Cup title in the last decade so if there’s a slump in their form it’s expected.
The Chelsea skipper shouldn’t drawn into the off the field dramas and should do his talking on the pitch.
