Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is out of Spain’s squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Albania and Israel, Sky Sports reports.
Morata was originally picked by Spain manager Julien Lopetegui along with Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro but withdrew from the squad earlier today.
This comes after the 24-year-old was taken off midway through the first half of the Blues 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday after sustaining a hamstring injury.
Morata has been brilliant for the Blues since moving from Real Madrid scoring seven goals in all competitions so far this season, so this is a big loss for the team.
It will be interesting to see which team Antonio Conte selects if Morata can’t make the starting line-up in time to face struggling Crystal Palace.
But as Sky Sports report, the club will observe the in-form striker’s situation in a bid to get him fully fit as we visit a side that has lost all seven league fixtures so far this season.
