Diego Costa is not the only Chelsea star who will be sitting out the club’s pre-season tour, according to the BBC.
As per the BBC, Nemanja Matic will also be kept behind amid speculation that he could be on the way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.
Matic was a cornerstone in Antonio Conte’s side last campaign, and was integral as the Blues won the Premier League title at a canter. However, the Serb does not appear to have a future in SW6.
The BBC report that Antonio Conte has informed both Costa and Matic that they will not be selected to travel to the Far East on Monday as Chelsea embark on their pre-season tour.
It is reported that both Manchester United, and unnamed sides from Italy, have both shown an interest in signing Matic. There is not, however, any indication that any official offers have been submitted.
On the bright side, the BBC believe that AS Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to replace Matic in the middle of the park.
