Diego Costa has been granted an extended pre-season by Chelsea amid interest from former employers Atletico Madrid, report the BBC.
As the BBC report, Costa revealed to reporters in June that he had received a text message from manager Antonio Conte explaining that he was not in his plans going forward. The BBC believe that Conte has not had a change of heart, and Costa will continue to be frozen out.
The BBC report that Chelsea have decided to keep Costa away from the Cobham training ground for at least another week in order to avoid unnecessary distractions. By that, they presumably mean the huge elephant in the room that is his manager doesn’t want him.
According to the BBC, Costa’s move away from the Premier League champions could be signed and sealed in the coming weeks, with Atletico Madrid being linked with a move for their former striker.
One way or another, there doesn’t appear to be any way back for Costa at Chelsea.
