Cesc Fabregas believed teammate Eden Hazard can reach the pinnacle of world football.
As per Sky Sports, Hazard was included in Fabregas’ five-aside-team that consists of his teammates from the past and present.
The Spaniard completed his team with Iker Casillas, Gerald Pique, Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry.
When speaking to Sky Sports’ Soccer AM programme, the midfielder talked about all the attributes that could make Hazard a future Ballon D’Or winner.
Sky Sports quotes Fabregas saying:
“He can go one-on-one, can also hold the possession of the ball and has a great passing ability. I will go for him for my Chelsea pick.
“With Eden, in my opinion, it is up to him [to aim for the Ballon D’Or] because he’s got all the qualities.”
Is Hazard winning the Ballon D’Or a matter of time?
Due to the dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo of being the best players in the world, Hazard may have to be patient in his quest for winning the Ballon D’Or.
Whether that means moving onto a team in Spain to get even more recognition or the ambition to become Chelsea’s greatest player in the history of the club is another story.
If the 27-year-old can finish this season with the Blues strong along with a successful World Cup campaign in Russia, this would boost his chances.
