Here’s a weird one for you – Andre Villas-Boas to Real Madrid. You’d think we were playing Football Manager 2012…

Except, this isn’t a computer game, this is real life – and it’s a credible report! According to the reliable RMC Sport, Real Madrid have made contact with Villas-Boas over replacing Zinedine Zidane as manager.

It seems bizarre that a team who have won three Champions Leagues on the bounce would be chasing a manager with such a hit and miss C.V. Villas-Boas left Chelsea on the brink of elimination from the Champions League. It took a Roberto Di Matteo inspired turnaround for us to progress. We all know how that ended.

Villas-Boas has not held a position at any club since he departed Shanghai SIPG at the end of last year. He has since competed in the 2018 Dakar Rally, but was forced to withdraw with a back injury.

His appointment at Real Madrid would be incredibly bizarre, and we’re all for it. Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois would surely rather work under the stewardship of Ronald McDonald at Stamford Bridge than take orders from Villas-Boas at the Bernabeu!
