Three Chelsea stars have been nominated for the Premier League player of the season award, report ESPN.
ESPN report that they are Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta and PFA and FWA player of the year N’Golo Kante. You have to say, any of the three would be a worthy winner.
As soon as Kante stepped onto the field against West Ham on the opening day, you could see how good a signing he was going to prove to be.
Kante has revolutionised our midfield, and established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. He was awarded the PFA and FWA Player of The Year accolades, few would bet against him scooping another.
The Belgian has enjoyed his most prolific Premier League season to date, having found the back of the net on 15 occasions in the league.
This campaign he has really closed the gap on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and is widely considered one of the most talented players in world football.
Azpilicueta is, by trade, a right-back – in case you had forgotten. The Spain international was used at left-back by Jose Mourinho, and now at centre-back by Antonio Conte.
He has scarcely put a foot wrong in any of those roles, and having been left out of the PFA Team of The Year, the Premier League player of the season award would be giving him the recognition that he deserves.
