Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes the rumours surrounding manager Antonio Conte’s future at the club are ridiculous, the Express reports.
The Dutchman who played for the club from 2000 to 2004 has also praised Conte on the back of our 3-0 loss to Roma on Tuesday.
However, Chelsea can qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a win over Qarabag. When speaking to the Express, Hasselbaink also praised the Italian’s work at the Blues.
The Express quotes Hasselbaink saying:
“I think the rumours are just ridiculous. I think he’s been doing absolutely magnificent. I think when you are a manager you always get ups and downs. He’s had a lot more ups than downs.”
During the season, emotions have got the better of Conte. This has led many to believe he is feeling the pressure that comes with being Chelsea manager.
Our performances this season, especially in the Premier League have been worrying. Already nine points behind league leaders Manchester City, Conte needs to adapt to this somewhat stressful circumstance.
A win against Manchester United on Sunday would certainly relieve some of that pressure, in the hope we can make a statement at Stamford Bridge.
