Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the condition of Romelu Lukaku ahead of the FA Cup final.
Lukaku sustained an ankle injury during United’s clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford and has subsequently missed their past two league fixtures.
The United faithful will be holding their breath for more news on the situation ahead of the final at Wembley, especially having seen how dire the Red Devils were against West Ham on Thursday night.
Mourinho remains hopeful that Lukaku will be involved. Whether that be starting from the beginning or among the substitutes remains to be seen. The Portuguese is quoted by the Mirror revealing:
“We hope he can play the final. He is in Belgium having his treatment in the communication between the doctors in Belgium and our medical department and we are just waiting to see if it is possible for him to be involved in the final if not starting at least he can be on the bench.”
Though we would never wish injury upon a footballer, especially one who formerly pulled on Chelsea blue, we hope that Lukaku will miss out on this one. He’s one of the best strikers in the league and our chances of success will be considerably higher in his absence.
