Our youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek has drawn plenty of praise for his recent performances, after the arrival of Guus Hiddink has provided him with more chances to show his undisputed talents.
The new regime has had an incredible impact on the young-Englishman’s development, with his most recent performance earning plaudits from non other than Glen Hoddle:
“He reminds me of Ballack – physically and the way he plays,”
“He gets in the box and he moves well off the ball. He likes that position in behind the front player. Whether he’s going to get those opportunities I’m not sure.”
“You’ve got [Eden] Hazard and Oscar who want to play there. Willian has appeared in that position and they might go and buy somebody else. He’s got a lot of challenges to get that position but he’s a prospect.”
“Cheeky” has been one of the most promising of our youngster crop, and is by very definition a true blue, which only makes his success a lot more pleasing to witness. And with our team clearly lacking depth in the middle of the park, the 20 year-old could see plenty more chances in the upcoming few weeks and hopefully be in the consideration of our next manager *cough-Conte-cough* when he is thinking about the club’s future.
