We may be about to cross a name off the list of potential candidates to replace Antonio Conte has Chelsea manager.
Pressure has been building on the Italian for some time now. There were suggestions that he would walk out of the club following our title-triumph last term following a downturn in his relations with the Chelsea board.
Conte continually reiterated his frustrations with our transfer activity, or rather lack there of, and subsequently raised major question marks over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
Following the poor form that we have been in since the turn of the year, Chelsea sacking Conte has also fast become a genuine possibility.
The question is – who will replace him? Well, if the Telegraph are to be believed, it’s not likely to be Barcelona treble-winner Luis Enrique.
The Telegraph claim that Enrique’s wage demands could cause problems during negotiations between the Spaniard and the Premier League champions.
It’s claimed that Enrique banked £16.5M-a-year during his time at the Nou Camp, whereas Conte currently earns ‘just’ £9.5M-a-year in SW6.
