Antonio Conte’s second summer signing, N’Golo Kanté, today had his squad number for the coming season confirmed.

The French international, who joined earlier this month for a reported £30 million fee from Leicester City, will wear the number 7 shirt for the Blues.

The shirt number, which was vacated back in January following Ramires’ departure, has also been worn by the likes of Andrei Shevchenko in recent years.

With his shirt already for sale on the Chelsea Megastore website, Chelsea fans will find “KANTÉ 7” a common sight in the Stamford Bridge stands next season.

Kanté is currently still on leave following his nation’s run to the Euro 2016 final. However, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard have now joined the squad as Conte’s men begin their tour of the United States.

Chelsea take on Liverpool on Thursday in a game that represents the team’s toughest pre-season challenge thus far. A number of top football betting sites have Conte’s men as slight favourites in what is both teams’ opening fixture of this summer’s International Champions Cup.

Academy players Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Nathan Baxter have travelled with Conte’s first team, according to the Evening Standard. Branislav Ivanovic, though injured, has also travelled with the party.
