Oliver Giroud believes Chelsea is ‘the perfect club’ after leaving Arsenal in an £18m January transfer deadline day deal, The Daily Mail reports.
The Frenchman cited lack of match action as his reason to depart from the Gunners and Chelsea offered him a way out.
When speaking after his full Blues’ debut in the 3-0 win against West Brom, Giroud cited lack of match action as his reason to depart from the Gunners, as The Daily Mail reports.
Giroud is quoted by The Daily Mail saying:
“It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move.”
The striker was on hand to assist Eden Hazard in breaking the deadlock against the Baggies.
Despite suffering a head injury in the first half, Giroud continued on till the hour mark when he was replaced by Alvaro Morata.
As per The Daily Mail, the 31-year-old insists that he couldn’t have joined a better club despite our rivalry with Arsenal.
“I needed a new challenge and Chelsea was the perfect club for me.
“It’s a massive club and I am very proud to be here and to carry on my career.”
