Having been sacked by relegation battling Championship side Hull City, it would be a fair assumption that Leonid Slutsky would struggle to get another job in England anytime soon.
Slutsky made a name for himself in Russia, winning three league titles with CSKA Moscow, along with four other pieces of silverware. Though winning in that division may not appear impressive, Slutsky had very little cash to play with.
CSKA’s financial power is dwarfed by their Russian counterparts. Slutksy’s stewardship was the primary reason behind their success, but nothing went to plan during his time in Hull.
Slutsky was dismissed after a string of poor results, leaving himself unemployed at the time of writing. However, his good friend Roman Abramovich could be set to swoop in and provide him with a position at Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to the Telegraph, who claim that Slutsky could be in line for a role in SW6 following the departure of Michael Emenalo. Only time will tell if he will fill his boots or Abramovich will provide him with a different role.
