Terry

Because we have been so very lucky this season, life has decided to bring us down a bit, with injuries to our two starting center backs before the game that was maybe, possibly, conceivably but not probably the biggest chance to save whatever is left of this season.

So with Terry out, and Zouma’s season already finished, we have one and a half senior center backs left. The half being Ivanovic, who has not played in the heart of defense for about two years now. Full back positions will be filled with Cesar-Dave-Azpilicueta and Abdul Rahman Baba, unless Hiddink has something up his sleeve. But hey, what could go wrong, right?

We will also be without Matic, meaning that the defense would not have its main shield as a well (we also lose the option of him filling in if we lose one more defender during the game) and we obviously do not have Ramires who could deputize at right back, so basically if lose one more defender, we will be doomed, never forgetting that we will be facing a front line that cost around 200 million Euros to assemble.

It is sort of ironic that after we shipped Papy Djilobodji off to Germany, we suffered a massive injury crisis at the back. And if we don’t use the expensive Baba Rahman, or if we need a center back in the game, Papy’s replacement Matt Miazga or youngster Jake Clark-Salter could be in for one hell of a Chelsea debut.

Maybe it is for the best that we go out this early anyway, we would not want to play Barca or Bayern with our current situation this season. But then again, we did win the Champions League in similar-if not rockier- circumstances, so keep on believing blue ones!!
