Thibaut Courtois has all-but revealed that he will be staying at Chelsea.
According to The Sun, Courtois is a target for La Liga champions Real Madrid, as they look to replace the ageing Keylor Navas. However, it doesn’t appear as though Courtois has any interest in moving to the Bernabeu this summer.
The Sun quote Courtois, who confirms that if he is offered a contract extension by Chelsea, he will sign it without a second thought:
“Contract talks haven’t opened but I am happy at Chelsea. I hope they reward me with a good contract. Then there will be no doubt I will sign it.”
From a Chelsea perspective, Courtois’ willingness to snub interest from Real Madrid and commit his future to the club is fantastic news.
Despite being only 25-years-old, he is already one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and him picking up the Premier League Golden Glove award is testament to that.
If he wants to stick around that long, Courtois could be our goalkeeper for the next ten years, and etch his name into the Chelsea hall of fame.
