Thibaut Courtois is ready to clear up any doubts over his future at Chelsea by agreeing an extended deal at the club, Sport Foot Magazine reports via The Telegraph.
The goalkeeper currently earns £100k p/w on his current Chelsea contract that expires at the end of the 2018/19 season.
You would have to be living in a cave to not know of Real Madrid’s eagerness to lure Courtois back to the Spanish capital.
As per Belgian publication Sport Foot Magazine, the former-Atletico Madrid man has no immediate plans on a return to the city in the future.
Courtois is quoted by The Telegraph saying:
“We agreed to meet again in February because the club had more urgent issues to deal with in January.
“There’s no rush, I am under contract until 2019. Normally, there’s no problem and I will extend.”
Despite this fantastic news, the 25-year-old did admit his heart is in Madrid for personal reasons, as Sport Foot Magazine reports.
“It’s well known my personal situation is connected to the city of Madrid.
“If they’re really interested, my personal situation could affect it. The family aspect is priceless. But I repeat, for the moment I’m busy talking to Chelsea to extend.”
Even though Courtois admits that he may be open to a move to the 11-time Champions League winners, at least his immediate future is with Chelsea.
However, it would still be in the Blues interest to tie one of the best goalkeepers in the world to a contract extension as soon as possible.
