After the disappointing 3-0 loss to Roma on Tuesday night, Thibaut Courtois is already focused on helping Chelsea beat Manchester United on Sunday, Eurosport reports.
The Blues goalkeeper reduced what could have been an even more embarrassing score, pulling off some fine saves at the Stadio Olimpico.
After this Champions League catastrophe, the Belgian believes his team must win this weekend in order to remain in the title hunt. Courtois spoke to the press after last night’s match.
Eurosport quotes Courtois saying:
“This is a must-win game. Manchester City are already nine points ahead of us, Manchester United four and Tottenham one.”
A win against our former-manager Jose Mourinho’s team would be a big statement of intent. However, Courtois and his teammates have to respond after the deflating defeat to Roma.
Our league form has been erratic so far this season. Although, we are still well placed to qualify for the next round in Europe. A win against Qarabag in Azerbaiajan would see us through to the knockouts.
As well as needing to keep winning league games, we need Manchester City to slip up in the title race. Hopefully, our fortunes will change at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
