Chelsea against Atletico Madrid. The two European heavyweights last met in the Champions League in the 2013/14 campaign.
After a stale 0-0 draw in Madrid, Jose Mourinho’s men hosted their Spanish counterparts knowing that a victory would see them through to the Champions League final. It wasn’t to be.
An Atletico side spearheaded by Diego Costa brushed past the Premier League title challengers, who could only stand and watch as they were beaten by an evidently superior side.
Things are different now. Chelsea are the Premier League champions, and under the stewardship of Antonio Conte, there is no reason why we can’t go all the way in this competition.
The clash with Atletico provides us with the first real test for Conte’s side, but it is as much of a test for them as it is for us, such is the quality we have within our ranks.
If you were to combine the two squads, you would have a team capable of beating anyone on the planet. Imagine how good this side would be! Do you agree with our selection?
