Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been Crystal Palace’s most spirited and influential player this season.
In a team that has lacked any kind of intensity, the clear stand out has been our youngster that was sent out on loan to Palace in the summer.
Our opposition on Saturday has gone through all the nightmares that football can offer. Franck de Boer was sacked after just five games with former-England manager Roy Hodgson taking over.
Despite Hodgson trying to offer some balance and stability to the Eagles, they still find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table. No wins, no draws, seven losses. Not even a single goal.
You’d argue that if Loftus-Cheek was his team’s bright spark, than surely he would have scored or even assisted a goal this season? Nope, Palace have been that bad. Loftus-Cheek has the highest whoscored.com rating, just 7.16/10.
So our opposition’s best player this season being out against the champions can only be a good thing for us.
Palace don’t need more motivation for tomorrow’s match, not registering one point on the table and playing at home. The international break may also help them find their feet.
On paper you would say their best players like Christian Benteke and Yohan Cabaye have been poor.
But many Palace fans will say Loftus-Cheek has been the stand out for the south-Londoners.
