Chelsea are champions, I’ll never get bored of saying that.
Antonio Conte’s side have etched their name into the Premier League hall of fame, and they’ve done it in style. 30 victories, 93 points, 85 goals, and a bucket load of entertainment.
At a time of celebration, we are given the opportunity to look back and reflect on how we got here. It was, ultimately, 30 wins and three draws that saw us get our hands on the trophy, but some of those performances will prove to be more iconic than the rest.
Here are three victories that epitomised this team, and will be remembered far beyond the current campaign.
Chelsea 5-0 Everton
This was the game that truly made me believe that we could win the title. An absolute annihilation, and one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from a Chelsea side. A brace from Eden Hazard, who was completely untouchable all game. This was a real statement of intent, and we delivered on it.
Manchester City 1-3 Chelsea
Man City’s title challenge really does seem like a distant memory, but as the two sides faced off at the Etihad, they were very much in with a chance of lifting the trophy. Chelsea showed real character and fight, and ultimately our quality on the break proved too much for City to cope with. This is always a fixture you look out for when they’re announced at the beginning of the season, it’s arguably one of the most difficult in the Premier League. We made light work of it, however.
Everton 0-3 Chelsea
Hats off to Everton for providing us with two of these three, but few would argue that this was as significant as the first. Tottenham cut our advantage to just four points, and this was the toughest game we had left to play – we absolutely walked it. It was a professional and convincing performance from Chelsea, and at this point it became clear that the title was ours.
