When Chelsea won against Leicester last Saturday, Eden Hazard was left reassured that their squad has the potential to win more trophies this season after looking across the bench in affirmation.
Even though Chelsea are the defending champions of the Premier League title, critics had already started to question the strength of the current squad at Stamford Bridge.
So far, I believe Chelsea betting odds for the EPL season have improved in their favor and even further after beating Qarabag 6-0 on Tuesday in the first game of the Champions League.
On many occasions, Chelsea coach Antonio Conte had complained about the lack of strength and dependable options in the squad, but it seems the positive results have changed the Italian’s thoughts.
He has managed to use the idea of rotating the team successfully to alleviate the frustration. His prowess in such tactics could be seen in their game against Leicester as compared to when the Blues lost to Burnley in the opening match.
Currently, Chelsea has managed to line up reliable substitutes, after completing the signing of Danny Drinkwater, David Zappacosta and Willy Caballero, the return of Eden Hazard from injury, with Willian, Michy Andreas Christensen and Batshuayi fully fit and available.
It was a different story approximately one month ago when Conte’s headache were unforeseen injuries, uncompleted transfers and frustrating suspensions. With a very thin squad to pick from, the Italian had to include young inexperienced players to beef up the squad. They include Fikayo Tomori, Kenedy, Kyle Scott and Charly Musonda.
The most important thing right now is to have a strong bench due to the extra number of games Chelsea will have to play this season compared to the 2016-17 season, Hazard expressed to Standard Sport.
The Belgian international still believes his team has a strong bench that will help win most of their games lined up in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
His confident sentiments must have echoed through Qarabag’s defense, who were humbled 6-0 in their Champions League debut.
Just as Hazard expressed that they should not be complacent in a group having Atletico Madrid, Chelsea ensured they sent warning signals to other opponents, such as Roma who only recorded a barren draw with the Spanish side.
It was clear that Stamford Bridge was ready to give their loyal fans goodies from kick off to cast away any doubts of success.
Pedro started the game at the expense of Hazard, which is a tactical caution Conte took considering the Belgian’s significance in propelling his team to win trophies this season.
Furthermore, Chelsea have to prepare well for their Sunday match against North London rivals Arsenal, who are currently having mixed and inconsistent results. Hazard will be happy to start such an important game even after paving way in the previous matches.
Hazard expressed that it will be his joy if he starts on Sunday because he feels very fit and confident in his game. After returning from injury, he has managed to play against Everton, Gibraltar, Malta, Leicester and Qarabag.
His game has definitely improve and even if he is yet to attain 100 per cent. Perhaps, starting more games would bounce back his prowess and magical skills for more positive results.
