On a wet miserable afternoon at Turf Moor Chelsea missed out of the chance to extend their lead to 12 points at the top of the Premier League table. As its stands the blues now lead the rest of the pack by ten.

Chelsea had a good start in the game and through Pedro took the lead early on. It looked like it was going to be a routine Blues win until new Burnley signing Robbie Brady scored a stunning free-kick just after.

Burnley’s tight defence stopped Chelsea scoring in the second half and helped the hosts to collect a point from the match.

Here’s a look at how the players performed.

Thibaut Courtois – 7

Nearly got a hand on Brady’s free-kick that flew past him into the back of the net. Did superbly to deny Lowton’s one-on-one effort soon later though, and saved Gray’s breakthrough chance after Luiz’s miss kick in the second period.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 8

Played very well at the back as usual. Had a good long-range shot in the second half but was unlucky to miss. Surprisingly finished the game with the most shots in the Chelsea team with two.

David Luiz – 7

Made a mistake with a mis-kick which almost led to a Burnley goal, the Brazilian who was sporting a pony-tail was very solid at the back. Luiz was still having problems with his knees towards the end of the game, the limping was getting worse and worse. Needs to be left next week against Wolves in the Cup.

Gary Cahill – 6

Not at his usual self and looked well off form all game. Did what he had to do although he was caught up in a miss kicked pass.

Victor Moses – 7

Made a great run and pass to set up Pedro early in the game to make it 1-0. Tried to create chances during the game but most of his crosses were easily cleared away by the tight Burnley defence. He done his usual tracking back very well and over all didn’t play to bad.

N’Golo Kante – 8

By N’golo’s high standards this season this wasn’t one of his better games. He still put in a tireless midfield performance, covered so much ground during the game.

Nemanja Matic – 6

Made the foul which led to Burnley’s equalizer in the first half. Didn’t play at the same level as he did against Arsenal, and was subbed off after an hour of play for Cesc Fabregas.

Marcos Alonso – 7

Made some inviting crosses for the Blues but sadly no one got on the end of them. Had one weak shot on goal easily saved from close-range by the Burnley keeper.

Pedro – 8

Scored the goal with a clinical finish, but the further the match went on he faded out of the game. Made some good runs up and down the field but no real end product.

Diego Costa – 5

The Spaniard has entered a goal drought by his high standards this season. He hasn’t scored in three games and failed to get a single shot on target. Perhaps that’s the reason for today’s result.

Eden Hazard – 7

Poor finishing from the Belgian today after last weeks world class goal against Arsenal. Made some brilliant runs which more often or not ended in him getting fouled. Failed to beat the Burnley keeper early on and later skied a shot from Arfield’s poor clearance that fell straight to him.

Subs

Cesc Fabregas – 6

Came on the pitch midway through the second half to try and change the game. Made some long balls towards Costa and Hazard, that was about all he done. Had a chance from the edge of the area as well but he missed the goal with am awful shot.

Willian – 6

Was also brought on to try and insert a bit of pace into the front-three but couldn’t make any real difference.

Michy Batshuayi – 6

Came on with 3 minutes to go in the game. Made a few simple passes and that was about it. Needs to play next weekend when the Blues face Wolves away in the FA Cup.
