Chelsea have enjoyed a good start to the Premier League campaign, but there are still distinct weaknesses in the side.
Marcos Alonso remains our only option at left-wing-back, neither Pedro or Willian have proven themselves able to nail down a spot in attack, we are some way off perfection.
Thankfully the January transfer window will provide us with an opportunity to reinforce our squad in a few months time. He’s three players that Antonio Conte should be looking to draft in in the winter.
He would likely not come cheap as Southampton have a track record of setting high asking prices for their prize possessions, but re-signing Ryan Bertrand would make perfect sense. He knows the club like the back of his hand and would be able to provide Marcos Alonso with genuine competition.
Mahrez needs to leave Leicester City in order to revive his career. During the 2015/16 campaign, he was one of the best wingers in Europe. If he were to rediscover that electric form at Stamford Bridge, we could finally have the right-winger able to compliment Eden Hazard.
This transfer would make a lot more sense than you may think. Giuseppe Rossi is tried and tested. He is currently a free agent without a club and would be a great option as our third-choice striker. If Alvaro Morata picks up an injury, Michy Batshuayi would be forced to carry the goal burden singlehandedly. Signing Rossi on a short-term deal could prove to be a masterstroke.
Whether or not the club would have the remotest interest in signing any of these three players remains to be seen…
