Wolves v Chelsea – Preview

Chelsea look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League against 16th place Wolves at Molineux at a 3 o clock kick-off on Saturday. Last weekend’s loss to Everton has reduced Chelsea’s lead at the top of the Premier League to a mere point and before they’ve even kicked-off at Molineux, Chelsea could be sitting in second place if Manchester United are victorious against Everton at Goodison Park. However all is not blue at Chelsea as the squad and manager will no doubt be pleased with their clinical second half FA Cup performance against Cardiff to advance Chelsea through to the quarter final stage of that competition.

Watford Youth 0-4 Chelsea Youth

Another excellent youth cup run goes on after an excellent performance from our young charges once again. Similarities are there between this team and the team that made it to the final 2 years ago with the likes of Mellis, Stoch, Kakuta, Woods, Tejera and Van Aanholt. However i think this team is more complete, the team works so well as a unit now and there are no weak spots at all for teams to exploit. Having Jeffrey Bruma with all his experience at the back is such a big deal, with Danny Pappoe who has looked so good all season alongside side him and the excellent Deen-Conteh and Billy Clifford as the full backs the defence is as solid as you would like to see. The balance through the team is just about perfect and once they click it is very hard to stop them and break them down. The key feature of this seasons Youth Cup run is the dominance that the Chelsea boys are having during the games. The game in the last round against Pompey may have only been 1 – 0 but the dominance was still there and the game was completely in our hands.

Chelsea Res 1-2 Arsenal Res

Last night saw a mixed bag for Chelsea reserves. The team was to do without younger regulars like Connor Clifford, Josh McEachran, Jacopo Sala, Gokhan Tore, Milan Lalkovic, Jeffrey Bruma and Billy Clifford. All due to the upcomming FA Youth Cup quarter final which is on Wednesday night. That meant that comming in was Daniel Philliskirk who has been a player very much in limbo for most of the season, Nana-Ofori back from loan at Dagenham and Redbridge and Liam Bridcutt and Jacob Mellis continued from the previous game. What we saw was a decent forward line with Gael Kakuta and Jacob Meliis playing behind Fabio Borini, a strong midfield with Bridcutt, Matic and Philliskirk and a weakish looking defence with the erratic Nana and Gordon and Strickland and Magnay once again pairing up in the centre of defence.

Up for the Cup!

The Chelsea Football FanCast #105
With Chelsea safely through to the FA Cup quarter finals, the Chelsea Fancast team look forward to the draw. Chidge is otherwise engaged with family duties, so Dr. Martin fronts the show once again. Chelsea’s defeat by Everton at Goodison in midweek leaves them still top of the league, but not really ‘aving a laugh.

Blues Ease Past Cardiff

Chelsea 4-1 Cardiff
Didier Drogba inspired Chelsea to a comfortable victory over Cardiff City.

The Ivorian striker scored his 23rd goal of the season with just two minutes on the clock to give Chelsea a deserved early lead. But there were elements of complacency in Chelsea’s play throughout the first half, and it came as little surprise when the tenacity of the visiting side was rewarded when Michael Chopra headed past Henrique Hilario.
