AC Milan have ended their interest in signing Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to the Express.
The Express report that Antonio Conte has decided that Costa has no future with the Premier League champions, despite being influential in their success this term. The tabloid believe that Costa is on the move this summer, and Milan were in the running to sign him.
The Express believe that Jorge Mendes was locked in talks with Milan, with Costa’s future on the agenda. However, the Express note that Costa has refused to lower his £200,000-a-week wage demands, which Milan are not thought to be able to afford.
Costa could subsequently be set for a short-term spell away from Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea may have to fund it, that’s according to the Express. They report that Costa wants to return to Atletico, and may go on loan to Milan until their transfer ban is lifted, with Chelsea paying his wages.
This whole situation is an absolute mess.
