Antonio Conte wants to bring Bayern Munich’s Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal to Stamford Bridge this summer according to Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.
It’s understood the Blues manager has made the player his number one priority and has already spoken to him on the phone about a possible move. The player himself is also having English lessons as he prepares for a potential move to the Premier League.
Vidal was the Conte’s first signing as Juventus manager over 5 years ago, he paid Bayer Leverkusen around £10 million for the midfielder. Together they won three Serie A league titles during a hugely successful spell with the Italian club.
Just under 2 years ago Bayern Munich paid Juventus £25m for Vidal. Now the German club are demanding around £56 million, which for a player who turns 30 in the summer is a lot of money.
Last March, Conte was quoted saying he would relish the chance to work with the Chile international once again.
‘He has extraordinary physical and technical attributes, if I get to coach him a little more it’d be fantastic,’ said the former Italy boss.
‘I want him in all my teams.’
