Chelsea are interested in signing AS Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas, according to The Sun.
Our back-line has been the foundation of our success this term, but it doesn’t appear as though Antonio Conte is completely content with his defence.
The Sun cite Tuttomercatoweb reporting that Conte has sent scouts to watch Manolas in action against AC Milan this weekend. TMW note that Roma would demand £30million in exchange for the Greek international.
According to The Sun, Chelsea were interested in signing Manolas last summer, but the 25-year-old opted against moving to West London. However, the tabloid note that the Blues’ status in the Champions League could convince Manolas to make the move.
The Sun report that Conte is keen to strengthen his defence this summer, which may leave the futures of academy products Nathan Ake and Andreas Christensen in doubt. It would be a shame to see either of the pair depart, even if Manolas was playing in a Chelsea shirt next term.
