Chelsea signing AS Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko would not only be reinforcing Antonio Conte’s midfield, but it could have a direct impact on arch-rivals Arsenal’s plans for the summer transfer window, report the Mirror.
According to the Mirror, the Blues are closing in on securing a deal to bring Bakayoko to Stamford Bridge. The tabloid note that Chelsea’s £40million offer is likely to be enough to secure the France international’s services, and the move could be finalised by the end of the week.
The Mirror note that Bakayoko’s arrival in SW6 could have a detrimental effect on Arsenal’s pursuit of his teammate Thomas Lemar. The Mirror believe that Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of Lemar, but Monaco will not allow both players to leave this summer.
With Bernardo Silva’s move to Manchester City being announced earlier this month, the Mirror report that Monaco are unwilling to let both Bakayoko and Lemar depart.
This means that if Bakayoko’s move to Chelsea is as advanced as the Mirror understand, Arsenal’s pursuit of Lemar is on the rocks.
