Chelsea youngster Jeremie Boga has signed a new three-year contract with the Blues and will join Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City on loan for the rest of the season, confirmed the official Chelsea website yesterday evening.

Boga had been expected to stay with Chelsea this season after the 20-year-old was given a squad number by Antonio Conte earlier in the summer and started in the club’s opening fixture of the new Premier League campaign against Burnley.

However, following the news from Sky Sports last night that Chelsea have agreed a £35 million pound deal for Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, the people in charge of transfers at Stamford Bridge have decided to allow the young Chelsea winger to find first team experience.

The 20-year-old has already made his international debut for the Ivory Coast and has helped the Chelsea U21s to win a whole hoard of trophies, including the Under-21 Premier League, the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League.
