Chelsea have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Spain international Alvaro Morata, according to the Telegraph.
The Telegraph report that the deal to take Morata from Los Blancos to SW6 has been signed and sealed, with the player set to enter discussions with Chelsea over personal terms.
As per the Telegraph, Chelsea are set to part with a whopping £70M in order to secure Morata’s services, which will become a new club-record transfer fee, overtaking the £50M that the Telegraph believe we paid to sign Fernando Torres in 2011.
It is reported that Morata has been interested in working under Antonio Conte’s stewardship since last summer, when the Blues initially tried to sign him. It looks as though he will now have his wish granted.
It has been a frustrating transfer window from a fan’s point of view, but this marks a real statement of intent. Let’s hope it’s just the beginning…
