Could Chelsea be set to make a shock move for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can?
According to the Daily Star, Can will be free to leave Anfield at the end of the season if he does not put pen-to-paper on a contract extension between now and then. The rules allow him to agree a deal with any future employers as soon as the January transfer window when his contract has six months left to run.
The Daily Star claim that both Juventus and Can’s former side Bayern Munich would both be in the running to secure his services, but he is also attracting interest from two of Liverpool’s fellow Premier League sides.
The tabloid cite Italian reports which claim that Manchester United and Chelsea are both plotting surprise moves for the 23-year-old. Under normal circumstances, Liverpool would refuse to negotiate with either side, but if they are unable to agree an extension with him, they will have no choice but to let him go. This is one to keep an eye on.
