Chelsea are confident of signing Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, despite the Gunners offering him a last-ditch lucrative contract extension, according to the Telegraph.
As per the Telegraph, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been offered £180K-a-week by Arsene Wenger’s side in hope that he will snub interest from the Premier League champions and remain at the Emirates beyond this summer. However, the Telegraph note that Arsenal are fearful that he will reject the contract offer and push for a move to Chelsea.
The Telegraph claim that Antonio Conte is personally pushing to ensure that Oxlade-Chamberlain becomes a Chelsea player before the end of the transfer window. By the sounds of things, he may well get his wish.
As the Telegraph report, Arsenal are faced with the decision to sell him now for the £35M that is on the table from the Blues or watch him move to Stamford Bridge next summer on a free transfer. It is reported that Chelsea are growing increasingly confident that a deal will be struck.
