Chelsea have identified Everton’s Idrissa Gueye as an alternative to Danny Drinkwater, as per reports in the Daily Mail. The Blues’ have set sights on the Senegal midfielder as the ideal replacement for Nemanja Matic.
The move for the Everton man comes after talks with the Foxes for Drinkwater stalled according to The Sun. The report suggests that Chelsea have had had their latest £30 million bid rejected as Leicester City want £40 million for him.
Gueye is similar to N’Golo Kante in his style of play and has often been compared to the Frenchman. He’s a vital member of the squad Ronald Koeman is building at Everton and it’s hard to see him being sold.
The Senegal midfielder is the 2nd Everton player Chelsea have set sights on this summer according to Daily Mail. The Blues were interested in signing Romelu Lukaku but the move was hijacked by Manchester United at the last moment.
Chelsea, however, arguably came better off from that as they managed to snap up Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
