Chelsea are interested in signing Napoli star Dries Mertens, according to HLN.
HLN report that Blues boss Antonio Conte is a keen admirer of the Belgian, and could look to make a move to sign him in the summer transfer window.
However, HLN believe that Conte will need to convince the Chelsea hierarchy that Mertens would be a worthy acquisition if a deal is to materialise.
According to HLN, Mertens has just one year remaining on his Napoli contract, and it is unclear whether he will be putting pen-to-paper on an extension. The Belgian outlet report that Conte has been alerted by the uncertainty over the 30-year-old’s future, and has compiled an ‘extensive dossier’ on him in preparation for the summer.
Mertens has been in stunning form this campaign, having bagged 24 goals in Serie A, and provided six assists for his teammates. That sort of goal contribution would be more than welcome at Stamford Bridge.
