That leaves Eduardo as our only first-team backup for Thibaut Courtois, and the Portugal international did not play a minute of action in the 2016/17 campaign. It seems likely that Conte will look to recruit another goalkeeper this summer, and he could be set to go shopping in Paris.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain stopper Alphonse Areola. The Sun note that Areola is behind Kevin Trapp in the pecking order at the Parc des Princes, and feels as though it’s time to move on in order to further his career.
Chelsea is the perfect destination for Areola to do just that, and he would have the opportunity to fill his trophy cabinet to the brim under Conte’s stewardship. Only time will tell if he will be a Chelsea player when next season comes around.
