Chelsea are one of several clubs tracking the development of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Atakan Akkay, according to Goal.

If you’re a young player looking to be integrated into the first-team squad of a top club, Chelsea is probably the last place you would want to go. However, that doesn’t stop the club from looking to draft in some of the best available talent – often in order to sell them on for profit at a later date.

Goal believe that Akkay could be the latest player to become part of our money making machine, or who knows, the first teenager since John Terry to infiltrate the Chelsea starting eleven.

Perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Goal claim that Chelsea are by no means the only side in the race to sign Akkay. It is reported that Barcelona are also keen to secure his services. This is certainly one to keep an eye on.
