Chelsea are reportedly locked in a four-way transfer battle to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
The 2016/17 campaign was very much Bailey’s breakout year at Belgian outfit Genk. He found the back of the net nine times between the start of the season and January, earning himself a move to Bayer Leverkusen in the winter transfer window.
Despite not scoring in the latter stages of the season for the Bundesliga side, Bailey has arguably been the player of the year in Germany’s top tier this time around. He’s scored eight times in 17 league appearances, and the quality of some of his goals has been quite astounding.
His good performances have not gone unnoticed. According to the Metro, Chelsea offered £20M in exchange for Bailey’s services in January, a bid that was swiftly turned down by Bayer Leverkusen.
It is claimed that our interest still very much exists, but we are not alone in the race to sign him. The Metro report that both Arsenal and Manchester United are keen, while the Mirror add that Liverpool are also considering a move for the Jamaican.
